A place for me..............

Feeling a little helpless

So my birthday was good.  We went out for diner and I got spoiled rotten by friends and family.  Saturday morning was a different story however.  Let me back up a bit and tell you that some of my family (cousins, sister and her family, my mom and her hubby, aunts and uncles, ect..) went to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic for my cousins wedding last week.  They all left on Saturday May 20th and were scheduled to return Saturday May 27th.  My phone ran on saturday morning around 8am and it was my sister calling to tell me that there has been a bit of an accident.  Mom had taken a fall the night before (on my b-day) and is in the hospital.

I of course JUMPED outta bed and started crying (quietly as not to upset my sister).  As the story goes, she was on the dance floor with some kids and a little boy danced behind her and when she went to move outta the way (as to not step on the child) she lost her balance (due to her old accident injuries) and fell backwards onto her bum and whacked her head off a trampoline leg that was behind a curtain that was on the dance floor.  She could not get up, the resort Doctor was called, an ambulance was called and the wait began.  After 2 1/2 hours, the ambulance never did show up and they ended up after 3 tries, finding a mini van that would fit her (strapped to a back board) and her hubby that would take them to the hospital.  My sister drove the doctor's car behind this mini van to the hospital.

After, from what I was told, extensive searching, they found that my mother has a large blood blister on the back of her head where she hit her head and a cracked pelic bone.  She is on IV pain meds and seem's to be recovering well.  I have spoken to her several times since saturday and she seems to be in good spirts.  She says she is in a lot of pain but that the hospital is going a great job of helping her manage it.  She has to wear a neck brace for the next 20 days or so when she is up and about and they have already started some physio theorapy to speed up her recovery.  When speaking to her yesterday, it looked like she MIGHT be on a plan bound for home on Wednesday.  We'll see if that has changed when I call today.  Her husband is there with her and will return with her when she does.

So, I now feel helpless as I can not be with her and I know that it is costing me an arm and a leg to call her everyday.  It's worth it of course but I just wish I could be there with her ya know?  She must feel so alone in a whole other country with no family or friends around her.  I wish I could just kiss her and tell her how much I love her and how sorry I am for all that has been going on.  Is this a sign?

Checking in

I'm still alive just VERY busy. The Peanuts room is ALMOST ready to put furniture in. We primed the ceiling, walls and trim, then painted the Ceiling white, the walls Pastel Sage green and the trims/doors white. I just finished sweeping and mopping the hardwood floors and I am about to wax/polish it. Then, it's onto building the crib!! We took a trip to Ikea on monday and got all her furniture
Change table/dresser and Crib
and now its time to put it all together.

So I'm off to do some more work. Check in later!
